John Odom And Tommy John Surgery

Tommy John Surgery is defined as “A surgical procedure in which a ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a tendon from elsewhere in the body” and it is common amongst the young college and major league baseball players.

John Odom had an injured right elbow and also had a surgery in 2005 and this surgery was called as Tommy John Surgery. He was a baseball pitcher who died on Nov 5, 2008 at the age of 26. The cause for the death of John Odom death was by an accidental overdose of heroin, methamphetamine, benzyl piperazine and alcohol.

In the Tommy John Surgery a ligament was replaced. John Odom was healed and he also got a tattoo on the scar caused from the surgery. His tattoo was in Latin and it read as “poena par sapientia” which meant "Pain Equals Wisdom."

John Odom was traded for 10 bats in 2008, which costs about $665 in value. Odom might have felt terrible but he never revealed about it. John Odom visibly appeared cheerful, playing along with the publicity that was overestimated by the deal called “John Odom Trade Bat”. Six months later, Odom was dead from drug overdose.

The death of John Odom went unobserved, but the medical examiner saw the unusual tattoo inscription and the photos were put on Google. Odom was named as one of the people having this tattoo.
